the scene/emo kids: emotional roller coasters

there seems to be a trend in the modern emo kidz. the earliest emo guys were happy go lucky people who sang about playing music in their garage, staring at night skies, and a red t-shirt/blue jeans combinations. these were the 90's. we had emotion in music. people related to it because they too had emotions. it was very real music. people sang about how they felt. sometimes happy, sometimes unhappy, sometimes filled with h8.
colored band shirts were cool, and so were plain blue jeans. it was simple because they were about the music not the image.

then came the kids who thought it was cool to be unhappy. they sang music about emotions too. but apparently these kidz didn't know happiness is an emotion. depressing sounding music wasnt good enough, it had to look depressing too. so in the late 90's early 00's we have this trend of emo kids wearing all black all the and putting pounds of grease in their hair to make themselves look like 'ash ketchum'.

sort of glad i was still 'finding myself' during this trend and didn't bite down on this culture.

in the last year or two i think we've began to see a new trend. a rise in emotion maybe? or maybe its the same emo kids who dont want to be called emo anymore so they where brighter clothes and act happier. don't think they're really fooling anyone.

is it sxy to look like an azn anime character? is it cool to look like a character from dragon-ball z?

seems like the people who follow these trendz closely and are instep with every change in style aren't too concerned with the music. feel like they are just bringing weakness to a once authentic genre.

will i still like skinny jeans when im 40?
will i still like native or sdre when im 50 or will i listen to national puplic radio like my parents do?
what will the emo kidz wear in 20 years?

hope it becomes cool to write music about happier emotions again. miss those old songs

  2. who cares what music is cool or in. isn't the point of being alt not caring? there are still a lot of people that listen to happy music and wish there was more out there. write about how you feel. write about what you want. you'll find people out there dying to connect with happier emotions.

  4. reading some of the other anonymous comments I can see why you would want to do that, but at the same time it saddens me. i've only left you two comments but I liked doing it. knowing that for a second you considered my opinion on something was cool. but i totally understand, my blog has disabled comments too. but that's because my blog is more personal, about my relationships, hardships and day to day life. yours is about thoughts and observations, topics where it's good to get feedback/opinions/comments, where your topics can create discussion. just in case this will be my last opportunity to leave you a comment I would like to say it's been nice reading and i'll probably continue doing so. ps. don't waste your winter break, but definitely get drunk on new years lol
